Pynchon's latest novel is classic California noir as seen through the eyes of the lovechild of Philip Marlowe and The Dude. T.P. spent some early years on the beach and wrote much of Gravity's Rainbow in a SoCal apartment and in his usual attention to detail has created a singular vision to add to the genre. All the Pynchonian buzzers are buzzing in this hilarious novel in which nothing is what it seems and chaos is the only rule.
