ARchiTecture (art+architecture) Residency Project in Ghana:

FOTA Foundation, a registered NGO in Ghana is calling for expression of interest from curators, arts administrators, visual activists, international workshop/ course organizers to put together projects in earth architecture, earth art/ land art/ earthworks, and "green” engineering to enable their participants to design-and-build dwellings or non-dwellings out of earth and other materials on its 800-acre Artist Village in development at Maabang in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Call for proposals to be considered for The Artist's Studio: An Artist in Residence Program at One Colorado, Pasadena, CA.

The Armory Center for the Arts and One Colorado invite artists to apply for a three month paid Artist in Residence program that is a unique opportunity for an artist who enjoys interacting with the general public in a retail environment. The program is designed to bring art into a public space where both the artist and the public will learn from and be inspired by the interactions.

Submissions are due at the Armory by Monday, June 22 at 5 p.m.
Artists will be notified by Tuesday, June 30.

Call for Artists | Day of the Dead at El Pueblo Historical Monument

Call for Submissions:
Sacred Memories: Cross-Cultural Celebrations
of Day of the Dead

From October 19 to November 27, 2009, El Pueblo Historical Monument will present Sacred Memories: Cross-Cultural Celebrations of Day of the Dead. Sacred Memories follows El Pueblo's acclaimed 2007 exhibition which explored celebrations that venerate the departed including Dia de los Muertos, first observed by the indigenous people of Latin America, China's Qingming, and other rituals practiced in United States, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. Artists are asked to submit for consideration two and three-dimensional work (including ofrendas/altars) that examines rituals honoring the deceased and/or pays tribute to departed ancestors.
